The cemetery in Bielsko was established in 1849.
During World War II, the Germans planned to liquidate the cemetery. Residential buildings were to be erected in the place of the cemetery. However, the lack of action by the Germans did not protect the necropolis from the theft of matzevot.
The period after World War II turned out to be a struggle for the preservation of the building with the then authorities.
In 1988, the cemetery was entered into the register of monuments, and in 1992, renovation works began. As the property of the Jewish Religious Community, it returned in 1997 and continues to perform burial functions.
About 400 tombstones have survived in the cemetery, the oldest of which dates back to 1849.
